ORIGIN

ORIGIN observes a child beginning to encounter their own body and the world around them within the familiar space of home. The small body, once held in someone's arms and guided by the hand, begins to change position on its own, place its feet on the floor, and reach toward a closed door. The movement continues even when only part of the body is visible through blurred surfaces and curtains.

Caring for the child from close by, I photographed these changes. The space that shelters the child becomes a place to explore, and the ways we share that space gradually change as well. ORIGIN is the first chapter in my observation of the relationship between the child and the surrounding world, later continuing in DISTANCE and OUR TIME.

ORIGIN은 아이가 익숙한 집 안에서 자신의 몸과 주변 세계를 만나기 시작하는 모습을 바라본다. 누군가에게 안기고 손을 잡히던 작은 몸은 스스로 위치를 바꾸고, 바닥에 발을 디디며, 닫힌 문을 향해 손을 뻗는다. 흐린 표면과 커튼 너머로 몸의 일부만 보이는 순간에도 그 움직임은 이어진다.

나는 가까운 자리에서 아이를 돌보며 이러한 변화를 사진에 담았다. 아이를 지켜주는 공간이 아이가 탐색하는 장소가 되고, 그 안에서 함께하는 방식도 조금씩 달라진다. ORIGIN은 이후 DISTANCE와 OUR TIME으로 이어지는, 아이와 주변 세계의 관계를 바라보기 시작한 첫 장이다.
